The hag has low HP for a boss and does low damage. The Hag is fairly straightforward fight for a boss fight, much moreso then the Prophet say - but the need for rear rank damage is important in several boss fights - the cannon, prophet and flesh specifically. To do tolerably well in the mid and late game you'll need to be able to quickly kill third or fourth rank enemies, using similar skills to the ones used against the hag. Now I take issue with that - yes there are team builds that lack the ability to do damage to ranks 3 or 4, but the hag fight is a good lesson about the overall weakness of these builds.

It's an encounter designed to meat-grind first time players and push them further into debt as soon as it does, and then get steamrolled 4 hours later after players went to Google. And unless you're gifted with divine foresight, odds are you were either lucky or died against it the first time since it's so reliant on a VERY specific set of skills and a VERY specific party make-up that can hit past rank 3. Clearly it isn't, because a lot of people have mentioned it already. I hate it when people reply with, "it's the easiest thing since X".
